The company is committed to the R&D, production, sales, system integration and promotion of modern digital seismic observation technical systems and vibration‑measurement‑related technical systems, providing products, technologies and solutions for industries both inside and outside the sector.
Since its establishment, Geolight has developed dozens of seismic observation instruments with broadband, large dynamic range, high resolution and high sensitivity, including seismic sensors, seismic data acquisition units and data‑processing software. These products are widely applied in natural earthquake observation, earthquake early warning, active layer monitoring, national security, petroleum exploration, fracture monitoring, geological survey, dam monitoring, reservoir monitoring, seabed monitoring, mine seismic monitoring, railway early warning, high‑rise building structural health monitoring, lifeline engineering, cultural relic health monitoring and other fields. It has developed three‑dimensional seismic observation equipment and systems covering passive natural seismic observation to active artificial seismic observation, surface observation to down‑hole observation, and land‑based observation to marine observation. Geolight is the largest domestic manufacturer of seismic instruments.
Beijing Geolight has supplied complete sets of special‑purpose equipment and observation systems for digital seismic networks (stations) under the central government and provincial, autonomous regional and municipal authorities across China. It has undertaken reservoir seismic network projects for the Three‑Gorges Reservoir and Wujiang River Basin Hydropower Project, and delivered complete sets of seismic observation instruments and systems for reservoir seismic observation in high‑seismic‑intensity regions such as the Lancang River Basin, Yalong River Basin, Dadu River Basin and Jinsha River Basin. The company has also undertaken international seismic network construction projects including the National Digital Seismic Network of Cuba (1997 & 2010), National Digital Seismic Network of Bangladesh (2007 & 2017), National Digital Seismic Network of Uzbekistan, National Defence Seismic Observation Network of Pakistan, and overseas stations under the Belt and Road Seismic Monitoring Network Project (Armenia, Russia, 2025). In addition, Geolight’s products have long‑term exports to more than 40 countries and regions including the United States, Japan, Canada, Switzerland, Russia, Indonesia, the Philippines and the Republic of Korea. Its instruments and equipment have reached internationally advanced level.
Five research experts from Beijing Geolight were awarded the First‑Class National Science and Technology Progress Award of 2002 for the project “R&D, Production, Integration, Promotion and Application of China’s Digital Seismic Observation Technology”. Eight technical researchers won the Second‑Class National Science and Technology Progress Award of 2007 for the project “Very‑Low‑Frequency Standard Vibration Test System”. The company has repeatedly received the First‑Class Excellent Achievement Award for Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Mitigation issued by China Earthquake Administration.
Beijing Geolight owns well‑equipped R&D laboratories and vibration test laboratories, together with its directly‑affiliated CNC mechanical processing plant and dust‑free assembly workshop for electronic instruments. Geolight is ready to provide all sectors with a full range of digital seismic observation instruments, equipment and system solutions, undertake project design and engineering construction related to seismic observation and vibration observation technologies, and wholeheartedly serve seismological research, earthquake prevention and disaster mitigation, energy exploration and monitoring.
