On July 7, staff from Geolight (Beijing Geolight Technology Co., Ltd.) led 24 students of the Instrument Class from the School of Electronic Science and Control Engineering, Institute of Disaster Prevention to Fangshan Rock Geopark in Beijing for a patriotic education activity themed "Bear National Humiliation in Mind, Rejuvenate China" in commemoration of the 86th anniversary of the July 7th Incident.
In accordance with the collaborative talent cultivation clauses stipulated in the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement between Geolight and the Institute of Disaster Prevention, over ten instructors from the company delivered lectures for undergraduates of the Instrument Class during the 2023 summer training program. The curriculum covered principles of seismic instruments, fundamentals of seismic data collectors, R&D of seismic data processing software, comprehensive hands-on training on the assembly and commissioning of seismic instruments, practical operation of supporting software for seismic equipment, application prospects of seismic instruments, and cutting-edge research in seismic observation equipment. This field trip served as an outdoor practical session of the summer training program.
During the activity, the company’s technical specialists guided the students to complete field surveys and outdoor deployment of portable seismic stations, and recorded full sets of vibration data. The event aims to help young students keep history firmly in mind and uphold the original aspiration that "seismological science is rooted in seismic observation technology, and we stand ready to contribute to building a powerful nation". It inspires the younger generation to strive for self-improvement and work together for the rejuvenation of China.
