On July 7, staff from Geolight led 24 students of the "Instrument Class" from the School of Electronic Science and Control Engineering, Institute of Disaster Prevention, to Fangshan Global Geopark of China for a themed educational activity titled "Never Forget National Humiliation, Rejuvenate China" in commemoration of the 86th anniversary of the July 7th Incident.
To implement the talent cultivation cooperation specified in the framework strategic cooperation agreement between Geolight and the Institute of Disaster Prevention, more than ten instructors from the company delivered lectures for undergraduates of the "Instrument Class" during the 2023 summer training program. The lectures covered principles of seismic instruments, principles of seismic data recorders, development of seismic data processing software, comprehensive practice on assembly, commissioning of seismic instruments, hands-on operation of supporting software for seismic instruments, application prospects of seismic instruments, cutting-edge research of seismic observation instruments and other topics. This activity served as the field practice module of the summer training program.
During the activity, technical experts of our company guided students of the "Instrument Class" to complete field site selection and field installation of mobile seismic stations, and complete seismic vibration data recording. The activity aims to help students remember history, uphold the original aspiration that "seismological science is built upon seismic observation technology, and we strive for a stronger motherland", and encourage them to strive for national rejuvenation.
