On May 28, 2020, the Guangdong Earthquake Administration convened the acceptance meeting for the Procurement Project for Geological Borehole and Oblique Photogrammetry Real-Scene 3D Model Data of Guangzhou. He Xiaoling, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Administration, attended the meeting. The expert acceptance panel listened to the report presented by the project team of the contractor. After inquiry and discussion, the panel unanimously approved the project for acceptance.

This project is a sub-project of the Construction Project for the 3D Geological Body Model of Guangzhou Main Urban Area, a key project under the program to build Guangdong into a pilot province for the modernization of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction. Relying on massive borehole data and oblique photogrammetry data of Guangzhou’s main urban area, and combining existing data from the Query System for Seismic Performance of Buildings and Structures in Guangzhou Main Urban Area, a 3D geological body model system was established based on the MAPGIS 10 platform. The system supports comprehensive query, visualization and analysis of shallow underground structures as well as the seismic performance of surface buildings in Guangzhou’s main urban area.

The outputs generated by the system can be applied to urban planning, construction site selection, seismogeological hazard prevention, earthquake prevention and disaster reduction planning, and regional seismic safety evaluation. The project was scheduled to be fully completed by the end of 2020. Upon completion, more intuitive and comprehensive information services related to seismic fortification will be available to the public, laying a solid foundation for Guangdong Province to realize the goal of “sound structures above ground and clear geological conditions underground” in earthquake prevention and disaster reduction.
